New Jersey is an Equitable Distribution State for dividing property acquired during a marriage .

NJSA 2A:34-23.1 lists fifteen factors to consider when dividing property acquired during a marriage .

The factors include the duration of the marriage , age of the parties , income of the parties , written agreements between the parties , economic circumstances of the parties and any other  factors a court may deem relevant .

Thus, there is wide consideration for a Court to consider the equities in each case between the litigants and the impact of the division of the property.
